Job Description
In general, this position will manage the development, testing, and implementation of all projects assigned to the India Applications Department.
Supervision and direct the India Applications Development staff. You will provide leadership and vision in the development of assigned projects and products.
Lead all aspects of product development including design, coding, documentation, testing, and support. Additional responsibilities include staffing activities and
ensuring that the department stays within the approved budget.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Aviation. Preferred Accreditations and/or Certifications: Microsoft PM, Oracle, Scrum Master a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years overall experience in Software Development Life Cycle, managing designing, implementing, and testing large complex commercial software systems; including web-based applications, databases, document/content management systems or equivalent knowledge. Knowledge of Aircraft parts and maintenance procedures/processes a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervision and project management experience leading and managing a team of 20+ employees.
- Must be comfortable performing multiple roles/multi-tasking on numerous multi-faceted projects while managing staff and meeting deliverables.
- Experienced in collecting high level requirements and translating these requirements into detailed functional requirements for software developers and testers.
- Experience with software metrics, either from in an implementation or usage role, experience in software estimation techniques (CRUDE analysis, Function Point Analysis, etc.)
- Experience with developing and coordinating engineering quality practices.
- Must be willing to travel internationally.
- Knowledge and minimum 5-7 years of experience with the following: System Development Life Cycles Phases and Tools (such as IBM Rational Tools); Database Design; Online Transaction Processing; Batch Processing; Software Engineering principles and practices, Software methodologies such as AGILE and Water-Fall. Also, working knowledge of JAVA, MS Technologies, Oracle, .Net, C# and SQL Server. Knowledge of other supporting technologies (e.g. Swing, Struts, Ruby, Groovy etc.) a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to convey high level vision and direction, and highly technical concepts to staff and peers.
- Excellent problem resolution and facilitation skills.
- Must be able to hire, coach, and manage the development staff and communicate issues and progress to management.
- Proactively manage the activities of the Software Development Team (i.e. prioritize team tasks, gather weekly metrics. Develop/present meaningful status and have tangible deliverables).
- Prepare status reports and report to Management and Users.
- Develop and coordinate project estimation and scheduling with team and other members of management.
- Understand and be able to present the entire project vision to customers as well as the team.
- Must establish short- and mid-term work plans and optimizes resources to ensure that work objectives (e g. productivity, quality, costs) and deliverables are consistently met.
- Provide leadership and vision in the development of assigned projects and products.
- Prepare project plans and schedules. Review and analyze project requirements. Control and monitor project schedules.
- Accountable for quality of the product delivered.
- Assist production support in resolving production problems.
- Take a leadership role in recommending process and department structure to ensure effective completion of the assigned tasks. Provide technical knowledge to the staff with hands on exposure to software development in object oriented, SQL database environments, along with international business experience.
